Overview

Absolute Thai at KL East Mall offers a genuine taste of Thailand in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Located at G1-22 in the bustling East Mall, this eatery brings a vibrant menu that showcases classic Thai dishes with a focus on fresh flavors and balanced spices. The setting is intimate, though some diners note the lighting leans toward a softer, more romantic atmosphere—which might not suit everyone.

Signature dishes like Som Tum and Green Curry stand out, highlighting the restaurant’s commitment to authentic Thai taste profiles. The Green Curry, known for its bold kick, is recommended to be shared, especially for those sensitive to spice. Seafood lovers will find delights here, from the crispy catfish mango salad that even skeptics praise, to the well-executed Steamed Siakap with Chillies and the comforting Tom Yum Goong. These dishes capture the essence of Thai coastal cooking—fresh, zesty, and layered with umami.

Beyond main dishes, the Pandan Leaves Chicken adds a fragrant twist, while the Red Ruby Water Chestnut in Coconut Milk offers a traditional sweet finish. The inclusion of Kerabu Mangga—a refreshing mango salad—further enriches the experience with its blend of textures and tang. For vegetable sides, options like Stir Fried Kailan in Garlic Sauce and kangkung belacan provide familiar and satisfying accompaniments.

Customer experiences vary: some appreciate the attentive service and consistent quality, though a few prefer the taste at other Absolute Thai branches. High foot traffic is common—especially with the new mall’s opening—resulting in wait times that indicate strong local popularity. The space suits casual gatherings looking for flavorful Thai cuisine without pretension, targeting diners who enjoy bold, well-rounded dishes in a relaxed but lively environment.

In summary, Absolute Thai at KL East Mall serves as a reliable destination for those craving authentic Thai flavors, especially in seafood and spicy curries, wrapped in a cozy yet sometimes dimly lit atmosphere. It’s a place where traditional recipes meet urban dining convenience, making it a worthy stop on any KL food journey.

My go to place whenever i crave for Mieng Kham. The sweet coconut and the rest of the mix are my fav. I hardly eat catfish, but their fresh, crispy catfish mango salad - will change your mind. A place for a good seafood tomyam too. Their fried fish with mango or steamed are recommended too. Complete the set with kangkung belacan. My only issue with KLEM's outlet is just the lighting. Too romantic me think.

Wasn’t a fan of Absolute Thai at first, but after trying the Wangsa Walk outlet, I was impressed. Decided to try the KL East outlet. The staff was great, but for taste, Wangsa Walk wins.

Just okay. Food is okay, service is okay. Green curry is a bit spicy ya even for those who can eat spicy food well. I would recommend a bowl of green curry chicken is shared with 2/3 people. Dessert - it's a water chestnut ya people, not chestnut. Lol. I was imagining different chestnut n wonder why I was served differently

Good place for thai food. The beef soup was soothing although missing that pack of punch umami. All tomyum were creamy and satisfying. The pad kra pau (Basil leaf stir fry) is the most disappointing one for this meal. Can be improved. The store ambience was nice but the seatings provided for 5 person was not optimal, staff were quick on waiting tables but not keen on the comfort of the seatings.

Went there for lunch during public holiday/school holidays but was surprised got table - 5pax (3 adults, 2 kids). Had red chicken tomyam (authentic thai or not i donno but i like it especially the mushroom in it) - was a but spicy for the kids but i think it was just nice, plain Omellete - sedap and most importantly not oily but slightly burnt which is fine for me, stir fry kailan in garlic - i dont quite like, should have stuck with kailan ikan masin and finally chicken with basil leaf - which was alright but ive tasted better elsewhere. Thai tea was ok - expensive tho for 10ringgit per glass but the serving glass was tall. Will i go again? Yes if we feel like having thai but not really to the point of going to the mall just to have absolute thai geddit geddit (example am at the mall and looking for a place to eat- absolute thai can be one of the options if there are seats available). Anyways have gone to other outlets before (sunway giza, ikano/e@curve) for the pass years since it has been around long and confirmed halal. Added: a bit annoying since ordering is done online now - scan qr code and its a bit messy as their menu goes by numbers so a bit hassle to find which category it belongs to. Being careless me i didnot check the bill and simply paid. Lucky my brother check. Turned out they forgot to serve two desserts we ordered. The reverse the payment was fast and seamless. But then they remove only one (i ordered two) and again i simply paid lol in the end i had one packed. Lesson learnt: always check your bill
